What does it look like when God’s people experience the blessings of His rule? In 1 Kings 4–5, we see the kingdom of Solomon flourishing through peace, prosperity, and preparation for the building of the temple. God fulfills His promises to His people and establishes a kingdom marked by order, abundance, and rest.

But these chapters point us beyond Solomon to a greater King. Solomon’s kingdom offers a glimpse of the peace and blessing that come under God’s rule, yet it is only a shadow of the perfect kingdom Jesus Christ brings. Through Christ, we receive a peace and a rest that no earthly king can provide.
