WHY START A NEW CHURCH?

It is February 2018, and we are finally starting to share the news publicly about Grace Hill Church. There has been so much time spent in prayer and seeking the Lord about starting a church, and we are so excited about sharing this news. From now on, we will be posting more information on Grace Hill Church and holding interest meetings. If you are interested in praying, serving, joining, or giving at Grace Hill, we ask that you keep up with our website, blog, and social media accounts.

However, some of you out there may be asking, “Why start a new church?”

Some may think, “Aren’t there already enough churches in Chatham County?” or “Do you guys think you are going to start better churches than what we already have here?”

We would answer “no” to both those questions.

We do not think there are enough churches in Chatham County, and particularly Pittsboro. The Baptist State Convention of NC has identified Pittsboro as the 91st largest pocket of lostness in NC, and there is only 1 church for every 5600 households in a 15-mile radius. Also, other statistics show that the population is only going to significantly increase over the next 5-10 years. Yet, there has already been a steady decline of Christianity in Pittsboro over the past 10 years, and only 13.5% would claim to be an evangelical Christian. Pittsboro needs more churches today and will only need more in the future.

We praise God that there has been a renewed effort for church health, revitalization, and planting. It is precisely because we want Chatham County to be saturated with more gospel churches that we have decided to plant Grace Hill. And our prayerful desire is that God would spring forth from us a multitude of new, faithful, Christ-exalting, gospel congregations scattered throughout Pittsboro, Chatham County, North Carolina, and to the ends of the earth.

We are not starting Grace Hill because we think there are not any healthy churches in Chatham. We are starting Grace Hill because we think there needs to be more healthy churches in Chatham.

We hope that as you learn more about Grace Hill’s mission that you will pray for us, and even consider partnering with us financially to support this church start.
